Life Teen Fatima & COVID-19

When we kicked off this semester in January 2020, no one would have imagined that by the spring, we’d have our interactions and mobility severely limited due to a global pandemic. In January, however, we began the semester as a Christ-centered community and nothing has changed about that. We will be more creative in how we express our community, but we remain united under the same cause. The remainder of the Spring 2020 semester materials have been delivered electronically through the Life Teen website, with in-person events postponed/rescheduled where possible. Below, you will find some common questions about Life Teen Fatima operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Will there still be a Sunday evening Life Teen Mass?

In response to growing public concern and following Governor Baker’s Emergency Order prohibiting most gatherings of 250 or more people, Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley, OFM Cap, Archbishop of Boston, made the decision to temporarily suspend all daily and Sunday Masses and religious services in the Archdiocese of Boston until further notice.  This began at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 14. In announcing this decision, the Cardinal also issued a dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass during this time to the Catholics of the Archdiocese of Boston.

Will there still be Sunday evening Life Nights?

All activities across the Archdiocese of Boston are temporarily suspended. This includes, Life Teen activities such as Sunday evening Life Nights. The Life Night materials for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester have been posted to the Life Teen Fatima website. The materials have been adjusted a bit to reflect our electronic form of delivery.

Where will the online Life Night materials be located?

All materials will be posted as blogs to the Life Teen Fatima website. You can see our full blog library at LifeTeenFatima.com/updates

When will in-person Life Teen activities resume?

The most important priority right now is that the safety of our community resumes. The suspension of Masses and church activities is temporary, but also indefinite. We will continue to work with the Archdiocese of Boston and other officials and await updates on when it will be ideal to get back into the swing of things.

When will the Class of 2022 Confirmation, initially scheduled for May 2, 2020 take place?

Thank you all for your patience as we await the next course of action for the Spring 2020 Confirmation. We received notification from the Archdiocese of Boston that the May 2 Confirmation Masses at St. Bridget Parish and Our Lady of Fatima Parish will be postponed, until we can do so safely. At this time, we have removed the events from our Parish calendars and will continue to evaluate as the current situation unfolds. We will post continued updates at https://lifeteenfatima.com/classof2022/

How will Confirmation prep be different?

At this time, we are praying that we will move into the Fall 2020 semester in full swing and in-person. If in the fall, if there is a constraint on large gatherings, will adjust accordingly. We plan to continue on with the fall schedule as posted, meeting remotely/electronically if needed.
